Phew! This weekend was definitely jammed packed with back to back events. This year the Spar Women’s run celebrated their 30th birthday . Still one of the best organized races in Kwa- Zulu Natal with a whopping 14751 participants this year.
Registration and race pack collection went smoothly. Goodie bags were packed with wonderful samples and a really nice shirt. I love the Grey shirt with the standard one size will fit most. There were a few full size products also included in the bag.
Ample free secure parking, and what I really appreciated was the warning to be careful with your phones in back packs. There has been a nasty trend lately where people will cut open back packs to steal phones and other valuables. It makes me want to get my tutu in a knot, but it’s unfortunately a harsh truth we have to deal with.
This year was not about running for time or distance but to support friends and have fun. We entered the 5 km and did the scenic walk, while having a few laughs. The route is very flat and was an easy walk. I cannot wait to do the Pietermaritzburg one later in the year.
There was ample hydration points with enough water sachets. YAY! We even got spoiled with a bottle of Aquelle at the end plus a breakfast pack. Other provinces receive beautiful medals, so I am a little curious why KZN receives breakfast packs. Still a nice treat after the walk.
Labelled the most beautiful race I can definitely agree, with all the lovely ladies and some gents that attend year after year. I see this as more of a social run but still a good one to add to the racing calendar.
Are all runs competitive runs for you? Do you have social runs where you just have fun? I would to hear what your favourite social run?
